Ranveer Singh is one happy man at the moment. Why shouldn’t he be? The actor has been receiving rave reviews from all quarters for his portrayal as the menacing Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat. The film got delayed due to the controversy surrounding it, courtesy the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, who continue to protest and ban it in different parts of the country. But that doesn’t seem to deter the spirit of the film or Ranveer who has worked darn hard to get here. He is certainly the man of the hour and he is living every bit of it. One would think, Ranveer has already got the opportunity to enact his dream role of Alauddhin Khilji on screen. Who else could have done such a phenomenal job, right? But the actor reveals that he hasn’t got the opportunity to play his dream role yet. In an interview with DNA on the occasion of Republic day, the actor discloses that he is waiting to play an army personnel in a film.

He is quoted telling DNA that is he is waiting for someone to offer him the role. He said, “I’m waiting for someone to offer me an inspiring story that makes me emotional. I will do that film right away. It will be my tribute to the men in uniform who stare down enemies and death every single day. It will be an honour for me.” Speaking about the Indian army and the soldiers who sacrifice their lives to keep us safe, Ranveer told the leading daily, “I salute their bravery and immense sacrifice. What they do for us can’t be given enough recognition. Thank you for keeping us safe and making us feel so protected. Rather than giving them a message, I would like to give their valour and courage a personal salute. They are the real-life heroes everyone should take inspiration from.” (ALSO READ : Padmaavat Box Office Report: 10-15 Per Cent Occupancy To Houseful – Protests Affect Film’s Performance On Day 1 EXCLUSIVE)

Meanwhile, on the professional front, the actor has started work on Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy along with Alia Bhatt. Pics from their shoot leaked a few days ago and we almost couldn’t recognise them in their unglamourous roles. While Ranveer is playing a street rapper in the film, Alia will be seen essaying the role of Muslim girl in it. However, we don’t know more about her on screen character yet. Ranveer’s transformation from the Delhi Sultanate ruler to the guy-next-door, has left us all in awe of him. Seeing him go back to looking like he used to during his ‘Band Baaja Baarat’ and ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’ days makes us wonder if the actor has a time machine. Meanwhile, we would like to wish the actor and all the readers a very Happy Republic Day.
