Arsenal have been told they will have to break their transfer record to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Borussia Dortmund rejected a second bid of just over £50m for Aubameyang and are holding out for closer to £60m.
The Gabon striker wants to join the Gunners but is growing frustrated at the slow progress Arsene Wenger’s men are making to secure him.
Arsenal know it is going to take a bid above the club record £52m they paid Lyon for Alexandre Lacazette to get the deal done.
But they are willing to let it go down right down to the wire in the hope of bringing the asking price down.

Manchester United fans went into meltdown on social media after Jose Mourinho’s comments in his press conference today.
The Red Devils manager was talking about Alexis Sanchez leaving Arsenal for Old Trafford earlier this week.
He explained: “It was a transfer between two big clubs in the same country, something I think should happen more often.”
Manchester United fans have been quick to take to social media and believe it means Mesut Ozil could be the next man to leave Arsenal for Old Trafford.
The Germany international is out of contract in the summer and the Red Devils have been linked with him.

Chelsea are plotting a shock loan swoop for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
The Blues are desperate for a striker as Antonio Conte seeks competition for misfiring summer signing Alvaro Morata.
They’ve been linked with a number of forwards, including Peter Crouch, Andy Carroll and Christian Benteke, while a move for Edin Dzeko is reportedly close to completion.
But according to the Mirror, France international Giroud is the latest target man on Chelsea’s wishlist.
But a switch to west London could impact their plans to sign Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Arsenal are currently negotiating a deal for the Gabon international, although the two parties are still miles apart in their valuation of the player.
And Dortmund are not willing to sell until they have a replacement lined up.
Their priority target is Giroud, who they’re attempting to bring to the Bundesliga on a temporary basis.
