When it comes to making it as a singer on an international scale, things are not always easy. Some British artists find great success in their home country but struggle at cracking America. This week we are taking a look at a few artists who deserve to find success in the US after making it big in the UK.

Jorja Smith was featured on a Drake record when she was just a teenager. Two years later, 20-year-old Jorja has been named as one of the UK’s most promising up and coming artists. With her soulful, raspy sound she has been compared to Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse. Jorja appeared on two of Drake’s tracks on his 2017 album More Life in addition to being nominated in the Best Female category at the 2017 MOBO Awards. It is surely only a matter of time before she finds success in America.

Twenty-year-old R&B singer Raye’s first big break came from a feature on Jonas Blue’s 2016 tune By Your Side and later on Jax Jones’ 2016 single You Don’t Know Me, which reached number three on the UK singles chart.  Raye performed her first headline concert in London last year. Her last single, Decline, which was released in November, had Ja Rule and Ashanti’s 1999 hit Always on Time as the chorus. The fact that she has been cosigned by Charli XCX will only help bring her closer to realising the American dream.
