TRAITORS: Sally's too good for Freshco

The have kept The Kabin running since it first opened in 1973, with residents of Weatherfield popping in to picks up a few bits and pieces at their convenience as the merry newsagents is ran by , before being passed to Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden).

But it seems the independent store may have major competition in the shape of major corporation, or rather, Co-Operation as a Co-Operative has clearly opened up close by.

Eagle-eyed fans have spotted characters carrying Co-Op bags as they make their way around Weatherfield – which could potentially put Corrie's beloved The Kabin, and Dev Alahan's (Jimmi Harkishin) The Corner Shop in jeopardy.

The bag was first spotted being touted by an extra as they wandered around the cobbles.

And fans were left reeling when soap favourite Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment) bowed down to the aggressive capitalist regime by also defecting to Co-Op after bringing a bag of shopping over.

Snob Sally Webster (Sally Dynevor) has also betrayed local business, after one of the lurid blue bags were spotted in the background of her kitchen as she cooked.

Fans took to Twitter to call out the traitors, asking why they've decided to stop shopping at local business, or Coronation Street's favoured supermarket Freshco.

"Surely not the CO-OP!" wrote one fan with cry-laughter emojis.

“Take it Freshco has been taken over by the Co-Op in Weatherfield?”

"Take it Freshco has been taken over by the Co-Op in Weatherfield?" said another.

A third fan laughed a the product placement, laughing: "Kirk's blatantly obvious Co-Op bag! Don't think I've ever seen a Co-op in Weatherfield."

The Co-Op is not the only big brand threatening to shut down Weatherfield's local stores.

Other fans spotted carrying a Costa coffee cup as he made his way to the Rovers Return.

RIP-OFF: Could Dev's high prices could be why shoppers are going elsewhere?

But the way gentrification is reshaping the cobbles, it might become a Wetherspoons before we know it…

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
