S'gor media personnel attend EC briefing

SHAH ALAM: A total of 79 media personnel from 30 print and electronic media agencies, particularly in Selangor attended an election briefing organised by the Election Commission (EC) here today.
The four-hour briefing was to expose the media to its role and duties during the forthcoming general election, which has been held by Aug this year.
At the briefing, several media personnel also had the opportunity to experience at first hand the election simulation held by EC by adhering to all the procedures set throughout the polling and counting process.
Radio Televisyen Malaysia media personnel, Samsia Samsi, 33, told Bernama the simulation was timely in view of the 14th General Election (GE14) as she could see that EC used a rigorous procedure starting from the dissolution of Parliament until the gazetting of the new election results.
Another media personnel Radzi Razak from The Malaysian Insight said today's briefing also gave the participants an in-depth understanding of the procedures used by the EC, including on how to become an election candidate's agent.
Meanwhile, Selangor Election Office deputy director Kamarul Azman Ahmad Sabri said 35,000 polling personnel were expected to be stationed in Selangor during GE14.
He also advised the public to obtain information on their polling station and other information relating to the general election by downloading the 'MySPRK Semak' application on their smartphones. — Bernama
