Jaden Johns picked up a key pin at 170 pounds in the second-to-last match of the night to help the Sycamore wrestling team defeat Sterling 37-34 on the road Thursday.
The pin came at the buzzer for the Johns at the end of the second period.
Nick Salsberry also had a pin for Sycamore at 195, as did Matthew Hunter at 220, and Joey Beaudoin at 285.
DeKalb holds on: The Barbs eked out a 31-30 win against Hononegah at home.
No individual results were available from the match.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Indian Creek falls at Serena: The Timberwolves got 12 points and nine rebounds from Morgan Johnson in the 49-46 road loss.
Sarah Diehl added 11 points and nine boards. Jade Milostan and Olivia Turner each had nine.
LATE WEDNESDAY
DeKalb-Sycamore wins: The Barbs posted a season-best 147.55 to win at a four-team meet.
Madison Hickey won two events and was second in another to take the all-around. She finished with a 38.4 in the all-around, bolstered by a 9.9 on the vault and a 9.75 o the bars. Her 9.3 on the beam was second only to teammate Sam Keating.
Lauren Leman was second on the bars with a 9.45.
