BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVNS) - Teachers statewide are concerned with changes to West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Agency's GO365 Program. Teachers said they are furious after PEIA plans to make the GO365 Program mandatory on July 1, 2018. Thursday night, Jan. 25, 2018 Raleigh County educators met at Woodrow Wilson High School to discuss solutions. They explained the program will force them to change their lifestyles.
On the PEIA's website it states teachers and service personnel will have to log their daily exercise activity, keep a sleep log, take a daily health quiz, among other requirements. If teachers do that they could see benefits like gift cards and lower premiums. On the other side, those who don't follow the requirements may have to pay hundreds of dollars. "It's devastating to a lot of people. We put our heart and soul in what we do. I really think education is a calling and it's a slap in the face," the President of the Raleigh County Education Association, Wendy Peters said. During Thursday nights meeting (1/25), teachers said they planning a rally in Charleston to stand against the issue. They did not release a date on when they plan to do that. During that rally they are hoping legislators will listen.
