Argentine theatre group to perform at Lokadharmi

Lokadharmi Natakaveedu (theatre home) at Nayarambalam is set to host an unusual workshop followed by a performance by a popular travelling theatre group, Mandragora Circo, from Argentina.

The workshop, for dancers, actors, dancers, and other performers aged above 14 years, involves training in physical skills, acrobatics, non-verbal acting, clowning, and juggling. It is not necessary to have any kind of previous experience, says A.A. Chandradasan, artistic director of Lokadharmi.

The workshop, to be organised on January 26 and 27 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. with one-hour lunch break at Natakaveedu at Nayarambalam in Vypeen. Participants have to pay a fee. On January 28, Sunday, the group, which has performed in 42 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa, will perform its wordless play, also titled Mandragora Circo (Mandrake Circus), at 6.30 p.m. The play presents two clowns telling a story of comedy and love where dialogue and thoughts are communicated without the help of spoken words.

“he show is delicate, with a touch of comedy, and an attractive story which can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. It is a non-verbal performance bordering clowning and acrobatics,” said a note shared by Mr. Chandradasan.

The cast of the 55-minute non-verbal play comprises Mariana Silva and Juan Cruz Bracamonte. Entry is free.
