Editor:
I always read the Opinion Page of The Daily Jeffersonian for obvious reasons. I am always impressed when our readers take the time to write a letter to the editor. I am particularly impressed when readers give their thoughts on the Bible, a subject that is dear to my heart.
The letters in this past Thursday’s (Jan. 18) edition piqued my interest so I thought I would respond. I particularly like the comments of Jeanine Gaumer who stated that the Church began in the Book of Acts and the pattern for Salvation is also found in the Book of Acts. She also mentioned why Jeff Eschman left out baptism and cites Mark 16:16. I would also add that Acts 2:38 is also a key verse in Salvation. She also correctly mentions that there are 11 examples of conversion in the Bible. Believe, Repent, and Confess are not always mentioned in each example; but do you know what’s mentioned in each and every case. BAPTISM. The writer is also correct in that one does not join a Church, nor is one voted into the Church. No, it’s God who adds one to THE Church.
