SHARJAH: His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued Law No. 02 of 2018 establishing the “Sharjah Establishment for Al Quran Al Kareem and Al Sunnah Al Nabawiyyah.”
The new establishment enjoys the legal personality and the full legal capacity to act in its affairs under the provisions of this Law.
The Law states that the establishment will be based in the Emirate of Sharjah and can open further branches in the emirate following a decision from the Sharjah Executive Council, SEC.
The articles of the Law specify the objectives and powers of the establishment and prescribe the responsibilities Board of Directors Chairperson.
As stipulated by the Law, the Chairperson and the members of the Board of Directors will be appointed by a decision of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, or his representative. The term of membership will be four years starting from the date of its first meeting, and may be extended for a similar period or periods. The board should fulfil its roles at the end of its term until a new Board is appointed.
Law No. 02 annuls Emiri Decree No. 09 of 2001 on the establishment of the Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment.
The Law shall come into effect as from the date of its issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette. All concerned parties shall implement it each in its respective field. Any provision contrary to the provisions of this Law shall be repealed.
Emiri Decree
Sheikh Sultan has issued an Emiri Decree approving the organisational structure of the Sharjah Department of e-Government.
Decree No. 4 of 2018 stipulates that the organisational structure of the Department of e-Government in the Emirate of Sharjah shall be adopted in accordance with this Decree.
This Decree shall come into effect from the date of its issuance and the concerned authorities shall implement each in its own jurisdiction and repeal any provision that contradicts its provisions and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
The meeting was attended by Dr Andreas Liebmann, Austrian Ambassador to the UAE, Manal Ataya, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority, Dr. Sabah Jasim, Director General of the Sharjah Archaeology Authority, and a number of Austrian officials.

Sheikh Sultan has received at his office in the American University of Sharjah, AUS, Francis J. Ricciardone, President of the American University in Cairo, AUC. The Ruler of Sharjah welcomed Ricciardone and his accompanying delegation. The two sides exchanged viewpoints on a number of agenda items, including means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in education, scientific research and academic development fields.
Ricciardone expressed his thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Sultan, praising the scientific and cultural renaissance witnessed by the Emirate of Sharjah.
The meeting was attended by Dr Bjorn Kjerfve, Chancellor of AUS, Dr Amr Abdel Hamid, Director of the Sharjah Research Academy, and members of the Board of Trustees and members of the administrative and teaching bodies at the university.
