Aly Raisman still feels sick from the moment she testified at former USA Gymnastic doctor Larry Nassar's sentencing hearing, but isn't resting in her fight to stop anything like his decades of abuse from happening again.
In an appearance on The TODAY Show on Thursday, Raisman said until she testified, she hadn't seen Nassar in person since 2015. She looked at pictures of him online to prepare herself - and then went into a similar mindset that she had when she competed in gymnastics.
"In that moment, I almost felt like I was going to compete because at the Olympics you block out everything, and in that moment, I blocked out everything," Raisman said. "But after, I will be honest, I was sick. I almost passed out. I had the worst headache for hours. Even since then, I still don't feel good now."
She said Nassar "looked at me the whole entire time" as she delivered her blistering statement about him and USA Gymnastics.
"He looked me in the eye the whole entire time. It was crazy, I did not expect that at all," she said.
Nassar was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison on Wednesday on Ingham County Circuit Court in Michigan. He was sentenced last month to 60 years in federal prison on child pornography charges.
Raisman, who has called repeatedly for an independent investigation, said USA Gymnastics still had not reached out to her.
"I have not been contacted by anyone… They say they want an independent investigation right now, but it's easy to say that when there's so much pressure and everyone's watching."
