1 Lake Gibson’s De’Yaveyun Joseph (wrestling) pinned Fort Myers Riverdale’s Darius Parker with 30 seconds remaining at 195 pounds to provide the Braves with the winning points and give Lake Gibson the state title in the Class 2A Florida High School Dual Wrestling State Championships on Saturday at Kissimmee Osceola High School.
2 Winter Haven senior Keyshawn Bryant (boys basketball), who did not play the previous weekend at the Florida vs. Metro Shootout in Apopka because of a sore hamstring, scored 42 points and also pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Blue Devils to a big district victory over Lakeland.
3 Auburndale junior Nate Beymer (boys basketball) scored 23 points and hauled in 17 rebounds to lead the Bloodhounds to a one-point victory over Class 7A, District 6 rival Lake Gibson.
4 Santa Fe Catholic sophomore Matt Massarella (boys basketball) averaged 17 points in two games with four 3-pointers in back-to-back games. He went into those games averaging 3.8 points after 17 games.
5 All Saints sixth-grader Autum Brown (girls basketball) scored 33 points in two games. She scored 20 in a victory over Academy at the Lakes. Her clutch free throws helped lead the Saints’ comeback when they outscored the Wildcats by nine in the final 20 seconds for the five-point victory.
6 Lakeland Christian senior Tanner Molony (boys soccer), who missed a chunk of the season with an injury, scored two goals to lead the Vikings to a 3-2 victory over Berkeley Prep. Molony, last year's county boys soccer player of the year, now is second on the team with nine goals.
7 Auburndale junior Noah Sims (boys soccer) scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Bloodhounds to a 4-0 victory over George Jenkins. Sims leads the Bloodhounds with 15 goals and 39 assists.
8 Santa Fe Catholic freshman Kyla Fedderly (girls soccer) scored both goals in the Crimson Hawks’ 2-1 victory over Tenoroc. Fedderly leads Santa Fe with 16 goals and 34 points.
9 Lake Gibson junior Alissa Crews (girls soccer) scored three goals to lead the Braves past Mulberry 5-3. Crews is tied with Aliyah Vaughan for the team lead with 11 goals.
10 Ridge Community’s Rosalinda Gonzalez, who is averaging 14.6 points, scored 27 points in the Bolts’ 71-31 victory over George Jenkins..
