TAMPA — Paper towels soaked in blood, dental gauzes stained with fluids and extracted human teeth were all taken out with the trash at the home of a Tampa man who was arrested Wednesday for operating a dental practice without a license, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said.
Agents arrested Abdel Rahman Hussein Rabah, 42, at the yellow, wood-frame home near Tampa Executive Airport where federal investigators say he has operated his illegal business, sometimes using the fictitious name "Dr. Abdel Rahman."
That building, located at 6441 Eureka Springs Road, is about 9 miles from Rabah’s home at 517 Winham Street, where he has been dumping patients’ teeth in the trash.
FDLE agents first learned of the dubious dentist in December, when the state Department of Health asked for help investigating complaints about Rabah’s practice. The effort grew to involve Homeland Security, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said they found multiple social media accounts where Rabah advertised his dental work. The accounts no longer appear active, though investigators obtained multiple photos purporting to show Rabah’s dentistry.
Rabah is being held at Orient Road Jail on charges of unlicensed practice of a health care profession and practice of dentistry or dental hygiene without a license. His bail is set at $30,000.
