Thomas Lemar to Liverpool: Reds handed major transfer boost by Monaco

LIVERPOOL have been handed a boost in their quest to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

The Frenchman continues to be linked with a move to Anfield this month after missing out on a deadline day switch to the Premier League in the summer.

Arsenal were favourites back then, but now Liverpool are in pole position to land Lemar if he is to leave Ligue 1.

The 22-year-old has failed to hit the heights of last season, where he was instrumental in guiding Monaco to the French title.

But despite the drop in form, the club have still been asking for £90m for Lemar's services.

This figure has put Liverpool off in recent weeks.

“Jurgen Klopp may look to invest some of the money received from Philippe Coutinho's move to Barcelona”

But now, according to the Liverpool Echo, Monaco are wavering on their stance of not selling the player this month.

The publication claims Lemar will still cost a significant amount of money but a deal is now more likely.

Jurgen Klopp may look to invest some of the money received from Philippe Coutinho's move to Barcelona to fund a move for the player.

And there was another positive sign for Liverpool fans this week.

Thomas Lemar was dropped for Monaco's game against Lyon yesterday

Lemar was left out of Leonardo Jardim's squad to face Lyon in the Coupe de France last night, sparking speculation he was getting set for an imminent transfer.

Arsenal appear to have dropped their interest in the winger.

The Gunners now look set to pursue a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
