Season eight, episode eight of The Walking Dead showed Carl Grimes (played by Chandler Riggs) revealing his hidden walker bite to his father, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), and Michonne (Danai Gurira).
Since the reveal, fans have been expressing their disdain with the decision, not wanting the character to leave the story.
Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) has experienced a great deal of loss throughout her journey, losing her family including her father, Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson), her sister (Emily Kinney), and her husband Glenn (Steven Yeun).
The actress recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Chandler, saying she was upset when she heard she was losing him.
Lauren said she felt “really devastated", and is “still struggling to come to terms with Chandler Riggs’ exit".

With the recent announcement that the midseason premiere will be extended to deal with Carl’s death, viewers will see Maggie dealing with the iconic character’s demise very soon.
"I didn't really believe it, I was definitely in shock,” she said. “I’m still in shock about it."
"I feel really interested in how this is going to change the future of the story," she continued. "Because we know how much the story follows Carl's journey.”
“I’m interested in what ideas we're going to have moving forward,” she commented. “Because I was just really devastated."
Lauren also revealed that viewers will witness another “huge battle” in the second half of season eight.

The Walking Dead's season eight premiere is a month away and new photos show the major characters preparing for the fight of their lives.

“While trying to really hold the pieces together in the grief and in the aftermath of Carl,” she added.
She also hinted at what the tone of the second half of this season will be, commenting: ”It's a little bit emotionally scattered, but militaristically focused."
Norman Reedus also recently hit out at showrunners, explaining that he was “desperately unhappy” about the death.
"I've seen Chandler grow up from a little boy,” he said. “I’ve known that kid so long, and it always hurts when you lose a family member on the show."
