Coutinho has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since completing his £142million move from Liverpool.
However, the Barcelona ace has finally made his debut for the La Liga club during their Copa del Rey quarter-final second leg against Espanyol.
With Ernesto Valverde’s side 2-1 up on aggregate thanks to goals from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, Coutinho was called up off the bench to make his bow in the 68th minute.
The Brazilian midfielder took the place of Andres Iniesta and was hacked down within moments by Espanyol captain Victor Sanchez.
Barcelona fans will have breathed a sigh of relief after Coutinho escaped the challenge without any lasting damage.
