Delaware State Police are investigating a report of a person fatally struck by a vehicle on southbound I-95 in Wilmington shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday.

The crash occurred south of the 4th Street off-ramp when a 21-year-old woman, walking in the I-95 southbound right lane, was hit by a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by a 77-year-old Maryland man, police said. The woman was thrown to the ground and the Prius stopped, police said. 

All traffic on I-95 was diverted off the southbound portion of the highway at the M. L. King Boulevard exit while the incident was investigated.
