Runaway animals

WILLMAR — A caller reported a dog and a small pig running around at 3:59 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Kandiyohi County Road 8 and 45th Avenue Southeast. The caller said they were worried the two animals would be hit by a vehicle. The law enforcement report said the owners of the animals were located.

Garage fire

WILLMAR — The Willmar Fire Department were called to a structure fire at 4:54 a.m. Wednesday at the 600 block of Seventh Street Northwest in Willmar. The Willmar Ambulance and Willmar Police Department also responded to the call.

The structure in question was an unattached garage. When responders arrived, they observed heavy smoke and fire coming from the structure, according to a news release from the Fire Department. Siding was starting to melt on two nearby homes also. The firefighters decided to fight the fire only from the outside due to the extent of the fire.

The garage and its contents were a total loss. The two houses sustained a small amount of exterior damage. Firefighters were on the scene until about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.

There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
