Mark your calendars, Ankeny residents.
The annual SummerFest celebration will return July 12-15 with "Go Wild!" as its theme.
Announced during a ceremony on Wednesday at New American Brewery in Ankeny, the theme is "an invitation for SummerFest vendors, float and boat builders, and event attendees to create their own wild SummerFest experience," according to a news release.
SummerFest celebrated 50 years in 2016. It is hosted by the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce and held at Prairie Ridge Middle School and Prairie Ridge Sports Complex.
Traditions of the celebration will continue this year including parades, live music, fireworks, the Miss 16 contest and the Cardboard Boat Regatta.
A contest to name the monster on this year's SummerFest logo will be held in February with voting set to take place on the SummerFest Facebook page.
