MIAMI (AP) — Former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue has joined the board of directors of an organization founded by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and aimed at improving race relations.
Tagliabue has been an adviser for the past year to the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality. He was NFL commissioner from 1989 to 2006.
The organization is known as RISE and attempts to use sports to promote understanding, respect and equality. Tagliabue calls it a "unique alliance of leading organizations" dedicated to "addressing key issues of equality in our communities."
RISE was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in New York. It has been active in 23 states.
