The Louisiana High School Athletics Association released its latest high school soccer and basketball power ratings for the 2017-18 seasons earlier this week.

The soccer and basketball power ratings for each local team by classes and division are listed below.

SOCCER

The boys soccer power ratings are:

DIVISION I: H.L. Bourgeois (23rd) and Thibodaux (35th).

DIVISION II: Terrebonne (ninth), Central Lafourche (19th), South Terrebonne (34th), Ellender (39th) and South Lafourche (41st).

DIVISION III: E.D. White Catholic (second) and Vandebilt Catholic (fourth).

DIVISION IV: Covenant Christian Academy (15th) and Houma Christian School (18th).

The girls soccer power ratings are:

DIVISION I: Thibodaux (16th) and H.L. Bourgeois (24th).

DIVISION II: Central Lafourche (ninth), Terrebonne (10th), South Terrebonne (18th), South Lafourche (27th) and Ellender (34th).

DIVISION III: Vandebilt Catholic (first) and E.D. White Catholic (fifth).

DIVISION IV: Houma Christian (eighth) and Covenant Christian Academy (34th).

The LHSAA will release girls playoff brackets on Tuesday and boys playoff brackets on Wednesday.

The Top 8 seeds will receive first-round byes, while the next 16 seeds will play opening-round games with the deadlines set for Feb. 2 (girls) and Feb. 3 (boys). Other playoff deadlines are Feb. 7 (girls second round), Feb. 8 (boys second round), Feb. 12 (girls quarterfinal), Feb. 12 (boys quarterfinal), Feb. 16 (girls semifinal) and Feb. 17 (boys semifinal).

The 2017 Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Boys and Girls State Soccer Championships will be held Feb. 21-24 at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette’s Cajun Soccer Field.

BASKETBALL

The boys basketball power ratings are:

CLASS 5A: H.L. Bourgeois (sixth), Thibodaux (12th), Central Lafourche (29th) and Terrebonne (40th).

CLASS 4A: Ellender (24th), South Lafourche (31st), Assumption (33rd) and South Terrebonne (39th).

CLASS 3A: St. James (38th).

DIVISION II: Vandebilt Catholic (10th) and E.D. White Catholic (12th).

DIVISION IV: Covenant Christian Academy (eighth) and Houma Christian School (11th).

According to the LHSAA’s website, the Top 32 teams will make the boys state basketball playoffs in Classes 5A, 4A and 3A.

The LHSAA’s website also indicates that the Top 12 boys teams in Division II will make the playoffs with four teams receiving byes to the quarterfinal round. In the Division IV boys basketball playoffs, the Top 22 teams will make the playoffs with 10 teams receiving first-round byes.

The LHSAA will release the boys basketball playoffs in all classes and divisions on Feb. 19.

The Boys Marsh Madness Tournament will be held March 5-10 at McNeese State University’s Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles. It will feature the semifinal and championship games in all classes and divisions.

The girls basketball power ratings are:

CLASS 5A: Thibodaux (16th), Terrebonne (35th), H.L. Bourgeois (41st) and Central Lafourche (45th).

CLASS 4A: South Lafourche (fourth), Ellender (seventh), South Terrebonne (15th) and Assumption (26th).

CLASS 3A: St. James (21st).

DIVISION II: Vandebilt Catholic (seventh) and E.D. White Catholic (16th).

DIVISION IV: Houma Christian School (second) and Covenant Christian Academy (21st).

According to the LHSAA’s website, the Top 32 teams will make the girls state basketball playoffs in Classes 5A, 4A and 3A.

The LHSAA’s website also indicates that the Top 18 girls teams in Division II will make the playoffs with 14 teams receiving first-round byes. In the Division IV girls basketball playoffs, the Top 21 teams will make the playoffs with 11 teams receiving first-round byes.

The LHSAA will release the girls basketball playoffs in all classes and divisions on Feb. 11.

The Boys Marsh Madness Tournament will be held Feb. 26-March 3 at the Rapides Coliseum in Alexandria. It will feature the semifinal and championship games in all classes and divisions.
