Police arrested two people when detectives raided a home on Wyman Street on Thursday morning.
BROCKTON — A man and woman were arrested Thursday morning when police say they executed a search warrant and seized fentanyl.
The Brockton police Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 76 1/2 Wyman St. about 6:20 a.m.
"The raid was conducted as a result of a three-week-long investigation conducted by Brockton detectives into suspected fentanyl distribution originating from the address," said police Detective Lt. Paul Bonanca.
The targets of the investigation were identified by police as Jonathan Lee Godley and Samantha E. Stohlberg.
A search of the home pursuant to the warrant resulted in detectives seizing 40 bags of fentanyl, which weighed 13.5 grams total, Bonanca said.
"Paraphernalia associated with trafficking was also seized, including packaging materials and a digital scale," he said.
Detectives also seized a single Suboxone strip, 1 1/2 Gabapentin pills and $737 in cash, Bonanca said.
Godley, 42, who lists his address as homeless, was arrested and charged with trafficking a Class B drug (fentanyl), illegal possession of a Class B drug (Suboxone), illegal possession of a Class E drug (Gabapentin) and conspiracy to violate the drug law.
Stohlberg, 27, of 54 North Main St., Brockton, which is the Father Bill's and MainSpring homeless shelter, was arrested and charged with trafficking a Class B drug (fentanyl) and conspiracy to violate the drug law.
Godley was also arrested last March on drug charges when detectives raided what they described as a flophouse on Crowell Street in the city. He was one of 19 people police found in the home -- and one of 11 arrested. At that time, Godley was charged with illegal possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance and two counts of possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance after police seized heroin, crack cocaine and other unknown prescription pills.
State police assisted Brockton detectives during the raid on Thursday morning.
If convicted, the pair each face up to a maximum of 20 years in state prison -- the penalty for trafficking more than 10 grams of fentanyl.
Police say the Wyman Street home is also in the process of being condemned. It was deemed uninhabitable after police contacted code enforcement officers following the raid. The home's utilities have been shut off.
Both Godley and Stohlberg are expected to be arraigned Thursday in Brockton District Court.
