Mitchell man accused of threatening to kill officer's child

A Mitchell man is accused of threatening to kill a police officer's child.

On Jan. 21, a Mitchell police officer witnessed 25-year-old Jeffrey McGhee leave Thirsty's Bar at closing time, and was informed by dispatchers McGhee was on the 24/7 program and on probation, according to court documents.

McGhee performed a preliminary breath test and recorded a 0.149 blood alcohol content. McGhee was placed under arrest and allegedly became agitated, threatening to spit on the officer and saying he would kill the officer's child in front of him.

McGhee was charged with threatening a law enforcement officer or his family, a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
