April 14, 1935 - January 2, 2018
Donna Rae McNurlen, 82, passed away January 2, 2018 at Three Fountains, Medford.
Born in Richland, Iowa to Olive and Lloyd McNurlen, she grew up in a family of three children and was one of Iowa’s all-time girls’ basketball stars, a highly competitive sport in Iowa’s school districts.
Donna, who was fondly known in Jacksonville, along with her devoted friend, Lou McBride, was active in the Jacksonville Garden Club, and both were known for their arts-and-crafts business, “The Two Macs.” Their historic home was featured several times on the semi-annual Boosters Home and Garden Tour.
For more than 30 years, the janitorial partnership of “The Two Macs” was employed by the City of Jacksonville; Brodie Dental, Jacksonville; Fowler and McNair, Attorneys, Medford; and several others.
Donna had a love of fishing in Jackson County, all things Christmas, the work of Dogs for the Deaf, and her luck at Seven Feathers.
Recognized always for her humor, honesty, and integrity, Donna will be sorely missed by her friends in the Jacksonville community, the Bear Creek Mobile Estates, and Barnett Woods Retirement Living.
Survivors include Louellen McBride; nieces, Judy Bass (Charles), Englewood, Colorado and Connie Nelson (Glenn), Littleton, Colo.; and several great-nephews.
A celebration of life is planned for January 27 at 3:00 p.m. at Barnett Woods Retirement Living, second floor, 2979 E. Barnett Rd., Medford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jacksonville Woodlands Assn, P.O. Box 1210, Jacksonville, OR 97530.
