WINDHAM TOWNSHIP — A Geauga County man with three drunken driving convictions in the past four years was arrested again this week after allegedly driving while impaired in Windham Township.

A Portage County sheriff's deputy who stopped 36-year-old Eric J. Gibson's vehicle in the 9900 block of Parkman Road early Wednesday allegedly found the Troy Township man driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to a criminal complaint.

Gibson was charged with fourth-degree felony OVI, arraigned Wednesday afternoon and ordered held in the Portage county jail on 10 percent of $35,000 bond, according to court records, which did not list an attorney representing him.

Conditions of his bond are that he be placed on SCRAM alcohol-intake monitoring, attend recovery programs while in jail and not possess or consume alcohol if he is released on bond.

Gibson's prior drunken driving convictions were in Chardon Municipal Court in February 2016 and in Portage County Municipal Court in January 2015 and June 2013, according to the sheriff's office.

A driver may be charged with a felony OVI if they have already have a felony OVI conviction or are arrested on OVI charges for the fourth time in 10 years, under Ohio law.
