TUSCALOOSA — Former Alabama cornerback Marlon Humphrey was arrested Thursday morning on a third-degree robbery charge, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

Humphrey was arrested by the University of Alabama Police Department.

According to a copy of the incident report, Humphrey is alleged to have stolen a phone charger valued at $15 on Jan. 13 at 3:19 a.m. at the 300 block of Paul Bryant Drive in Tuscaloosa. The report does state Humphrey was suspected of using alcohol.

According to Alabama criminal code, robbery is committed in the third degree when someone “uses force against the person of the owner or any person present with intent to overcome his physical resistance or physical power of resistance or threatens the imminent use of force against the person of the owner or any person present with intent to compel acquiescence to the taking of or escaping with the property.”

In Alabama, third-degree robbery is a Class C felony

A first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2017 NFL Draft, Humphrey was released from Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $2,500 bond on Thursday.

“Marlon told us that it was a misunderstanding regarding a $15 telephone charger, which he thought was his,” the Ravens said in a statement. “Our understanding is that he has been interviewed by the University of Alabama police and is cooperating. We are monitoring the situation.”

Humphrey was a First-Team All-American in 2016. In his rookie season with the Ravens, Humphrey tallied 34 tackles and intercepted two passes.
