A Park Hills man charged with statutory sodomy and child molestation was found guilty Wednesday, according to St. Francois Prosecuting Attorney Jerrod Mahurin.

Timothy Duncan, 57, of Park Hills was found guilty after a two-day trial. Mahurin said the jury deliberated for about 30 minutes before returning with guilty verdicts on both counts.

After announcing the guilty verdict, the jury then further deliberated for roughly 45 minutes to determine recommended sentences for the two charges.

Mahurin said the jury returned recommended sentences of 20 years for the statutory sodomy charge and 10 years for the child molestation charge.

Duncan’s defense will have the opportunity to file any post-trial appeals or motions before he returns for sentencing on April 13. Mahurin said his office will request the recommended sentences of the jury be applied and run consecutively, for a total of 30 years.

As previously reported, Duncan was charged following a Dec. 13, 2016 interview with two female minors by the Children’s Advocacy Center in Farmington. One child told authorities that Duncan had made inappropriate advances toward her and ultimately sexually assaulted her. The second said she had been touched inappropriately by Duncan.

The next day Duncan arrived at the Park Hills Police Department at the request of a detective to be interviewed. According to the police report, Duncan at first seemed to act as if he did not know the two girls, but later said he barely knew them.

Duncan declined to take a polygraph test without an attorney and was later booked into the St. Francois County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
