The sentence was served under section 47(A) of the Act. The court made it clear that they would have to spend another eight months in jail if they fail to deposit the fine amount. Both the sentences would run concurrently, it added.



It may be noted that Excise Department officials had on August 24, 2016 conducted raids on their house in Mohammadabad village under Sarai police station of the district and seized 3608 litres of foreign liquor from the house, special court Public Prosecutor Lakshman Prasad Rai said.

The Nitish Kumar government, in April 2016, had enacted a stringent anti-liquor law banning manufacture, bottling, distribution, transportation, accumulation, possession, purchase, sale or consumption of liquor in the state.
