A DARLINGTON man has denied a charge of assaulting a police officer.
Darryn Liddell, 47, of Pendleton Road South, Darlington, admitted two charges of breaching a restraining order without reasonable excuse after contacting the woman protected by it, on July 6 and December 27 last year.
He pleaded not guilty to assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty on December 29 during an appearance before magistrates in Newton Aycliffe.

He was given unconditional bail and will appear at Peterlee Magistrates Court for trial on the afternoon of Monday, April 9.
