Six Flags Great Adventure to turn into World’s first solar-powered Theme Park

Six flagsIt was announced by Six Flags Great Adventure and its partner KDC Solar that construction will start soon to make the New Jersey property the world’s first solar-powered theme park.

 

 

John Winkler, Six Flags Great Adventure Park President said that it was a proud day for their company as the project represented a giant step toward becoming a net-zero carbon facility. They were pleased to come to a satisfactory agreement with all parties involved.

 

 

They were looking  forward to decades of environmental stewardship with  partner, KDC Solar. Clean energy is important for the environment and the future.

 

 

Solar carports over select parking lots and 40 acres of ground-mounted solar panel will be a part of 23.5 megawatt solar project.

 

 

The construction will start by March and the solar facility will be fully operational by the end of 2019.

 

 

KDC Solar will use more than 99,000 hours of union labor in constructing this project to produce clean energy and limit the park’s reliance on harmful fossil fuels.

 

 

 

Six Flags Great Adventure has cared for more than 70 different species of animals, including some that are endangered and even extinct in the wild for almost 45 years.

 

 

60 percent of its annual waste is recycled by the Jackson theme park and the theme park eliminated the use of paper towels in favor of energy-efficient hand dryers. Additionally,     Six Flags is expected to preserve more than 200 acres of forest, wetlands and wetlands transition areas.
