Fairport High School recognizing military personnel and veterans

Active military personnel and veterans will be recognized at the Fairport High School boys home basketball game, Feb. 2.

Varsity Coach Matt Cardina and student council advisor Karen Bidlack organized the evening.

The public is invited to join the Boys Basketball team and Student Council at 7 p.m. in the Fairport school gym. The American Legion Post 336 in Painesville will do a flag and honor guard presentation prior to the varsity game.

Wendy Sharpe, junior class advisor, will be offering concession deals to veterans and active military. There will be some high school team and sports wear as prizes given out during the game.

The high school band, directed by Chris Ruzin, will be performing the National Anthem and providing additional music throughout the evening. The Drama/Musical Department will hold a mini Chinese auction while the Art Department will have military artwork on display in the school entrance.

All military and veterans will receive free admission into the game. Cost to attend for the general public is $6 for adults and students while it’s free for seniors.
