DUBAI: A jobless man suspected to have injected a friend with a fatal heroin overdose won a second acquittal at the Dubai Appeals Court on Jan.24.
The Arab man, 36, facilitated heroin abuse to the deceased Arab friend by injecting him with a dose that unfortunately caused his death behind a company in Satwa area on the morning of Oct.21, 2015.
Forensic investigations into traces on drug-abuse related items seized near the dead body showed the jobless man’s DNA on the syringe, it was alleged in records at the Bur Dubai Police Station.
The case was first handled as a suicide on the deceased’s part. It was then claimed the defendant was the one who offered him the over dose. The defendant was also charged with drug abuse.
The Criminal Court on Sept.28.2017 pronounced him innocent citing uncorroborated evidence. Prosecutors appealed seeking to challenge the ruling. However, the Appeals Court upheld his acquittal.
