International Education Show launched in Sharjah

SHARJAH: Sheikh Majid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director of the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs, launched the 14th “International Education Show” at Sharjah Expo Centre on Wednesday, Jan.24. The show will be held until Jan.26, under the patronage of the Ministry Of Education.

Sheikh Majid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, who was accompanied by Abdullah Bin Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), and other representatives of the Ministry of Education, along with a number of official and academic figures, toured the exhibition hall. The hall includes more than 100 local, regional and international educational institutions.

Best Education

Sheikh Majid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi expressed the importance of the International Education Show as a project that supports one of the most important goals of “UAE Centennial 2071,” which is to help build the “best education in the world”. It will help create a generation that carries the banner of the future and enjoy the highest scientific and professional standards that will ensure better life. It will be a generation that helps raise the position of the country to be one of the best in the world.

Sheikh Majid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi pointed out that the various cultural, knowledge and scientific events and activities in Sharjah represent a special interest of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and of Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. Sheikh Majid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi also pointed out the importance of the International Education Show in introducing a wide range of young people to the different areas of study and scientific disciplines that are suited to the needs of the future labour market.

Prominent Pavilion

Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, stated that the International Education show is considered to be one of the most important events hosted by Expo Centre Sharjah, which was organised in partnership with the Ministry of Education. He stated that the show is of such importance because it targets the youth segment, which is the future driving force of both the labor market and other future developmental projects. He also added that the show contributes to the unprecedented prosperity witnessed by the higher education sector in the region. The prosperity especially witnessed in the UAE is very high, as it places education at the top of its priorities and was ranked fourth in the world’s most attractive educational destination for students wishing to pursue their studies abroad.

State-of-the-art Programmes

Participants in this year’s edition of the show will showcase hundreds of state-of-the-art programmes and a wide range of learning options from universities, colleges, higher education institutes, business schools, technical and art institutes and management training centres from around the world. The participants from around the world include institutions from the UAE, Malaysia, Britain, Canada, the United States, India and Australia.

The show includes prominent pavilions that will host many of the world’s leading educational institutions, including the exclusive educational fair in India. A number of educational institutions will participate in the show for the first time, including Curtin University Dubai, Dubai College of Tourism, Imam Malik College, and The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management. Some more of the participating universities are UAE University, Zayed University, Lebanese American University, Eaton Business School, Univer360, and Universiti Sains Malaysia.

The event is an important platform that guides students on the options available for university majors, which, in future, will help the country meet the requirements of sustainable development.

The show will include a number of workshops targeting students, academic and professional guides. The Ministry of Health organised a workshop titled “Nursing Pride and Creativity” while the Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation organised a workshop titled “Your Career in the Private Sector”. There was also a workshop organised by the Management Training and Professional Development with the title “Future Teacher Grant” and a workshop organised by the Management of Academic and Vocational Guidance with the title “Innovation is in Guidance”, were all parts of the edu-taining event.

The show includes a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, vocational courses, job placement programmes as well as short-term certification courses and career enhancement programmes for executive managers. Further, there were presentations and seminars from different educational institutions participating in the event.

The show is open to visitors on Jan.24 and Jan.25 in two periods, from 9am to 2pm and 5pm to 9pm. On Fridays, it opens at 3pm, and runs till 9pm. The show was dedicated to males on Jan.24 from 9am to 2pm, It will be a female oriented show on Jan.25, from 9am to 2pm.
