Chandigarh/ Panchkula, January 25, 2018: The campus of The British School, Panchkula, reverberated with slogans of ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Vande Matram’ as the school conducted activities related to India’s 69th Republic Day with full zeal. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity. To mark the importance of this day, a grand celebration was held in the school. Keeping in mind that the constitution of India came into force and India became a truly sovereign state on Republic Day, many activities were planned in the school premises.
The whole school echoed with patriotic fervor as the children drew scenes of Republic Day celebrations, sang patriotic songs, ate tri- color tiffins and had their faces proudly painted in national colours. They even wore tri coloured clothes to mark the occasion.
The Nursery and Kindergarten classes proudly sang “nanha munha rahi hu” and “sare jahan se achha”. In a special assembly the children were told stories of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of our country and how our constituent assembly framed our rules and laws.
The Director, Mr Sanjay Sethi said, “The patriotic fervor of children brings the whole country together even in our essential diversity.” He wished the students a bright future and expressed the importance of being a true Indian and added that we all should be proud to be Indians.
