‘Bahujan Left Front’of 28 groups floated in Telangana

A new political outfit, comprising 28 social groups and political parties led by Communist Party of India (Marxist), was formed in Telangana on Thursday. Named the Bahujan Left Front, it seeks to unite all progressive forces opposing the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Congress and BJP.

CPI (M) Telangana unit secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said the front would contest all the 110 assembly seats in Telangana in the next elections scheduled to be held in April 2019.

“We are aiming at bringing diverse social groups, individuals and political parties who have been strongly opposing the oppressive policies of the TRS government led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao,” Veerabhadram said. 

Popular revolutionary balladeer Gaddar, who severed his relations with the Maoist party last year and announced his plans to take a plunge into electoral politics, noted social activist and writer Kancha Ilaiah, and former chief secretary and Dalit activist Kaki Madhava Rao, besides several academics from the Osmania University and the Hyderabad Central University have been roped into the front. 

Apart from CPI (M), other parties — Marxist Communist Party of India (United), Majlis Bachao Tehreek, and Rajyadhikara Party — have joined the front.

“We have also approached the Communist Party of India (CPI), CPI (Marxist-Leninist), and New Democracy and are awaiting their confirmation,” Veerabhadram said. He said the front would bring about unity among Dalits, Bahujans and Leftist forces having ideological base of Ambedkar, Jyothiba Phule and Karl Marx to bring about change
