A "Crown" Fan Pointed Out a Major Mistake in a Season Two Episode

Did you spot it?

One eagle-eyed viewer of The Crown has spotted a continuity error in the second series.

The Netflix royal drama's production team are known for their strident attention to detail, often transforming their filming locations to make sure they look as if they did during the real time period.

But one fan has complained about a brief season two scene, in which Prince Philip (Matt Smith) is shown driving up to an East London home to visit his best friend Michael Parker (Daniel Ings). Below are still images from the scene, which is set in 1957.

In an apparent blunder, The Crown's team left a modern block of houses with UPVC windows in clear view in the community known as Cadogan Terrace, even though those houses weren't built until the mid-1960s.

"It's a lovely old street with beautiful old cars and then in the background there is this big modern block," viewer Rebecca Robins told the Daily Mail.

"It's amazing it wasn't spotted and removed. They'd gone to such lengths to make it look good with old cars and no road markings, it was a pity to see the scene ruined."

Hopefully, the production team will pay even more attention to detail making the upcoming third series. The Crown will jump ahead in time, with Olivia Colman replacing Claire Foy as the Queen.

It has also been reported in recent weeks that Helena Bonham Carter is poised to play Princess Margaret in the next two series, while Paul Bettany is in talks for the role of Prince Philip.

Netflix has yet to announce when the third series of The Crown will be premiering worldwide.
