Market Now: Auto stocks slide; Motherson Sumi, Amara Raja Batteries down 3%
State Bank of India, UPL, Bharti Airtel, YES Bank and Dr Reddy's Labs were among the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
NEW DELHI: Most of the auto stocks including Motherson Sumi Systems (down 2.58 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (down 2.58 per cent), Exide Industries (down 1.91 per cent), Apollo Tyres (down 1.85 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (down 1.75 per cent) were trading in the negative territory in afternoon trade on Thursday.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.60 per cent down at 11,585 around 01:50 pm (IST).

Shares of Bajaj Auto (down 0.97 per cent), Bharat Forge (down 0.78 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India (down 0.58 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (down 0.26 per cent), Bosch (down 0.18 per cent) and MRF (down 0.09 per cent) were also down.

However, Eicher Motors (up 0.37 per cent), Tata Motors (up 0.24 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 0.16 per cent) and Tata Motors (DVR) (up 0.06 per cent) were seen in the green in the index around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 52 points down at 11,034, while the BSE Sensex was 183 points down at 35,979.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.

In the Nifty 50 index, Coal India, Vedanta, Indiabulls Housing Finance, UltraTech Cement and Bharti Infratel were among the top gainers.

However, State Bank of India, UPL, Bharti Airtel, YES Bank and Dr Reddy's Labs were among the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
