NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Kerala government whether it could make changes in the Abkari Act to exempt toddy from the category of liquor.

The court also directed the state government to inform them about the distance limit between toddy shops before February 16.

If amendments could be made in the Abkari Act, toddy could be exempted from liquor ban.

Meanwhile, the state government has informed the SC that the toddy shops cannot be removed.
