DUBAI: A computer operator who was caught red-handed peeping over a toilet stall in a Dubai tower’s ladies restroom must spend three months behind bars, a jury ruled on Jan.24.

The Arab man, 23, breached the modesty of the Filipina secretary, 33, when he snuck into the next stall, raised his head and peeked at her at around 4:30pm on May.17.2017, prosecutors explained.

At the Criminal Court on Jul.12 he contended, “I did not get a look at her.” However, he acknowledged having trespassed into the ladies washroom. The court imprisoned him for three months plus deportation.

He sought to challenge the ruling. However, the Appeals Court upheld the punishment. During police and prosecution interrogations he had acknowledged entering the washroom but insisted he entered it by mistake.

In records at the Bur Dubai Police Station, the secretary complained that she was on duty at the tower in the Business Bay. She went to use the toilet stall after which she walked out to the washbasin.

“I was washing hands when a compatriot employee alerted me she had spotted him peeping over at me. I then looked under the door and saw him. I told him to get out. He stalled for around 10 minutes.

He came out claiming he entered there by mistake and was not aware they were ladies toilets.

Surveillance footage however showed him initially entering the gents’ restroom ten minutes before coming to ours,” she explained.

“The footage further showed he entered our restroom for a while then walked out. He returned and entered by the time I was using the toilet,” she explained adding that she contacted the police.  The compatriot female employee, 23, gave a similar account and added, “I was washing hands when I spotted him peeking at the secretary from above the next toilet stall.”
