MIAMI, Jan. 25: Novak Construction Founder/President, John Novak, proudly joined Whole Foods Market senior team members - Pres. FL Region, Juan Nunez, EVP-Operations, Ken Myers and Exec. Coord. Store Devt. and Design, Tony Lesley - at the store's Grand Opening this morning.
Located off of US1 and 104th street (7930 SW 104th Street), the 46,000 square foot store, shrouded in plywood and protection only three months ago, welcomed over 200 employees and hundreds of Opening Day shoppers.
Novak, a seasoned General Contractor, accomplished its key construction targets: coordinated successfully with the site developer and subcontractors, built safely adjacent to an open Target store, and managed seamlessly the overlap of the shell and interior buildout. The construction incorporated unique/green materials - IndoTeak wood, antiqued mirrors, custom tiles, hot-rolled steel elements and an exterior Greenscreen trellis. Finally, Whole Foods "loves local," Florida suppliers and products - Wynwood Brewing, Natalie's Orchid Island Juice, Zak the Baker and Pesto Diva - to name a few.
Noted Sr. Project Manager, Karen Rugh, "Novak is thrilled to complete this beautiful, new ground-up store in the vibrant Miami market. We weathered the storm (Hurricane Irma) - literally - and finished strong, a testament to Novak's teamwork with this invaluable client. We appreciate the confidence that Whole Foods has placed in Novak once again to get the job done. We're looking forward to the next one!"
In addition to Rugh, the project team was comprised by Steve Bykowski (Project Director), Ryan Powell (PE/Asst. Superintendent) Mark Nickolson (Project Superintendent), and a number of colleagues that assisted with storm prep as the shell was completed.
