Padmaavat Box Office Report: Despite protests Ranveer Singh’s film opens to 60 percent occupancy

After going through many hurdles and controversies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat finally released today at the box office. Despite facing protests and getting no release in four states, the magnum opus opened to 60 percent occupancy across the nation. The numbers would had been 80 percent, if there were no controversies and full-fledged smooth nationwide release. Since today is a normal working day, the numbers are great and the substantial in evening and night shows, will definitely help Padmaavat to stand with a whopping opening day total.

Interestingly, in many states the occupancy of the film is similar to Salman Khan’s recent blockbuster Tiger Zinda Hai. Padmaavat has performed has exceptionally in the circuits of Mumbai and Delhi. Since the film is also released in Tamil and Telugu languages, the film is expected to well in the southern markets as well. As per our trade experts, we are expecting the film to collect around Rs 25 to 30 crore today, which will indeed be a good start for the film. Since there is no big release in the coming week, the historical drama has 15 open days to perform at the box office. The film will also take the National holiday on January 26 (Republic Day), we are expecting it to cross the Rs 100 crore in its opening weekend itself.
