Genevieve Profera Genevieve “Gen” A. Profera, 87, of Wyalusing passed away on Sunday morning, Jan. 21, 2018 at her home on Lime Hill.

Born on Sept. 7, 1930, Gen was the daughter of the late Sabatino and Lucia Canale Caporaletti.

On Oct. 24, 1953, she married Ben Profera and together they had three children. In the 1990s, they moved from the Philadelphia

Area to Wyalusing. Gen liked to crochet, needlepoint, sew and to garden.

She was an avid reader and an excellent cook. All of her dishes were famous, as her family has said. But most of all, Gen liked to spend time and be surrounded by her family.

Besides her husband of 64 years, Ben Profera of Wyalusing, Gen is survived by her children, Michael J. Profera of Limerick, PA; Kathleen Williams and her husband, Mark of North Coventry, PA, and Lorraine Anderson and her husband, Russell of Sanatoga, PA; grandchildren, Christopher Williams of Port Angeles, WA, and Kyle Wood and his wife, Katie of Phoenixville, PA; great-granddaughter, Kennedy M. Wood, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and her daughterin law, Debra Profera.

Funeral services will be held on

Thursday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. at Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church Street, Wyalusing, with Father Joseph Manarchuck of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish officiating. Interment will follow at Lime Hill Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.
