Running in the winter can be invigorating – but in much of the country, snowy and icy conditions can make it treacherous. But that doesn't stop hard-core runners from hitting the trails. Saucony's Peregrine 7 Ice+ is designed for those runners who smile a little wider when they see snow starting to fall before a run. Based on the popular trail shoe in Saucony's line, this version is designed specifically for winter running, with a sole made with Vibram Arctic Grip and Ice Trek material that helps provide traction on slippery surfaces in low temperatures. You may not know those brand names, but you can feel the sole for yourself and see it has a grip that resembles fine sandpaper. You'll lock onto icy surfaces much better than with traditional running shoes, plus you'll also find an exo-skeleton frame that provides additional support. The upper is water resistant, and good enough to keep you dry during most conditions (if you're looking something to wear snowshoeing, however, you'll probably want something waterproof). But for winter hiking, running, or even just walking around town in nasty winter weather, the Peregrine 7 Ice+ is a solid neutral shoe that works on roads as well as the trails.
