Aubameyang to Arsenal: Gunners plot transfer deadline plan for Borussia Dortmund striker
ARSENAL remain confident of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January after reportedly having a £50million bid rejected.
That is according to Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague.
Arsenal have been in talks for several days with Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of Aubameyang, with chief executive Ivan Gazidis, chief scout Sven Mislintat and contract negotiator Huss Fahmy leading negotiations.
Dortmund are understood to want around £61.5m (70m euros) for the 28-year-old and Sky Sports claim the Bundesliga side have rejected a bid in excess of £50m from Arsenal.
But in response to a story about Arsenal’s failed bid, Balague claimed Aubameyang wants to join the Gunners and suggested the deal could go down to the final days of the transfer window.

If something happens, it happens. If not I’m perfectly happy with the squad I have
Balague wrote on Twitter: “Arsenal still confident as they have the player wish (and more) to join them.
“But they have to keep putting more money on table. As PEA doesn’t want to play for Dortmund anymore it makes sense to play with deadline.
“But... once you are here, you must get the player!”

Speaking after Arsenal reached the Carabao Cup final with a 2-1 win over Chelsea, Arsene Wenger was reluctant to discuss the Aubameyang situation.
He said: “It’s best I don’t talk about that.
“If something happens, it happens. If not I’m perfectly happy with the squad I have.
“We are open to strengthening the team. But at the moment we are not close to signing anyone.”
