Six people were arrested by Rachakonda police for kidnapping a 65-year-old businessman.
According to police, Cheripally Antaiah was returning home from a morning walk on January 20, when he was accosted and kidnapped in B.N. Reddy Nagar. He was then taken to a hillock in Choutuppal on the outskirts of the city and confined. His kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₹30 crore. Antaiah agreed to transfer his lands to buy his release. However, when his kidnappers were resting Antaiah managed to escape. give them the slip and escaped. Following a police complaint and a manhunt, Byroju Prabhakar, Aitapaka Krishna, Mubarak Ansari, Shaik Sharif Foolpiyeda, Shaik Hasib and Shaik Shorab Ali were nabbed. The prime accused Gottemukala Madhava Chary is absconding.
The police said Chary had hatched the plan and enlisted the other accused.
