Ujjain: Madhav Nagar police authorities celebrate National Girl Child Day
Ujjain: A programme on ‘Honor, Safety and Self-Defense’ for women was organised at Madhav Nagar police station on the occasion of National Girl Child Day on Wednesday.
ADGP V Madhukumar said it was not fair to differentiate between sons and daughters within families. The Government, law and constitution do not differentiate between son and daughter. “Family is a vital unit of society and daughters must be respected here, because only then daughters will be respected in the entire society,” he added.
The programme was attended by collector Sanket Bhondve, SP Sachin Atulkar and other officers. DIG Raman Singh Sikarwar said girls should immediately alert the police on any untoward incidents which might happen to them so that immediate action can be taken. Parents also should not ignore the child’s problem.
CJM CK Barpete said that sending obscene messages, songs, commenting and molesting women and girls fall in the category of crime, and for all these, action can be taken under Section 354. Domestic violence and harassment is also a crime and there is a separate act for this. Be sure to report the incident, but do not abuse the act by making false allegations, he added.
