I live in Charminster which is under threat from the developers.
We already have 70 or so houses being built to the west of the village and are now being threatened with another 120 to the east.
Although I understand we need houses, my main worry is that the only feasible road connecting the village is narrow with sharp bends, few pavements, parts of which have to be treated as a single road and it has become a rat run during peak times.
To put it mildly it is dangerous especially for the elderly, the disabled, those living on the road and parents taking children to and from the only school which is in the west of the village.
I attended the meeting to discuss this development under the aegis of WDDC and was surprised to learn that the Highways Division without a site visit had raised no objection.
Since I think twice about negotiating it – what must it be like for a mother with a toddler and a pushchair which I have seen?
