In the wake of Domain's CEO Antony Catalano's sudden departure, due to family obligations in Melbourne, some of Domain Holdings Australia's shareholders have expressed interest in former REA Alumnus, Greg Ellis to fill the vacant position.

A spokesman for the Australian executive has stated that he is committed to his current job in Germany, with Scout24, but will help develop the real-estate marketing business.

Scout24 is the leading real estate and car website in Germany and, Mr. Ellis is entitled under his contract to about $35 million of shares.

Mr. Ellis ran Domain's main rival REA Group from 2008 to 2014 and is currently a member of the Domain board, a move which has raised the possibility of his possible return to Australia.

Some investors believe Mr. Ellis would be a strong replacement given his executive experience, understanding of the Australian property market and familiarity with Domain's top competitor.
