ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Another Abu Sayyaf bandit suspected of involvement in the kidnapping of plantation workers in Basilan in 2001 was arrested in this city on Tuesday.
Mudrim Akbari Isnani, 39, alias Asawad, was collared at his residence in Barangay Sangali at about 8:30 a.m.
Chief Superintendent Billy Beltran, Zamboanga peninsula police chief, said Isnani was charged with eight counts of kidnapping and serious illegal detention before the Isabela Regional Trial Court Branch 1.
Beltran said Isnani has been under surveillance since last week following the arrest of two other bandits who tipped off authorities on his location.
Isnani is the fifth Abu Sayyaf bandit arrested in connection with the kidnapping of Golden Harvest Plantation workers in the past two weeks.
