Real Madrid news: Florentino Perez makes HUGE decision after shock Copa del Rey loss

FLORENTINO PEREZ is set to axe Zinedine Zidane after Real Madrid suffered a shock defeat to Leganes in the Copa del Rey this evening, according to reports.

Real’s woeful season continued after they were humbled by Leganes at the Bernabeu.

Los Blancos held a 1-0 lead heading into the second leg but Javi Eraso’s long-range effort stunned the home crowd into silence.

Karim Benzema managed to restore Real’s one-goal lead on aggregate just after half-time.

But Leganes pegged Real back almost instantly when Gabriel rose highest from a corner.

And, with Real unable to find another way through their rigid defence, Leganes record a stunning victory courtesy of the away-goals rule.

It is yet another blow to Zidane, who has all-but given up on his hopes of retaining the La Liga title.

Their only chance of silverware is now in the Champions League, where they face Paris Saint-Germain in the next round.

But Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Perez has already made his decision on Zidane and wants him out of the club.

The Frenchman has enjoyed instant success at the Bernabeu since taking charge of the club in January 2016.

However, this season has proven a huge challenge for Zidane with the club 19 points behind Barcelona and just one draw ahead of Villarreal in fifth.

They return to action on Saturday (3:15pm) the they travel to the Mestalla Stadium to take on Valencia.
